Is it normal for lash extensions to shed the first day?

This often stresses newer customers out, as they see a long, beautiful extension on the sink or pillow after the first day, but don't worry, it's completely normal. Eyelash extensions can only last as long as the natural eyelash growth cycle lasts.

Eyelash extensions

can only last as long as the natural eyelash growth cycle lasts. Extensions aren't immune to eyelash loss, as they stick to your natural lashes and fall out with them. This means that you can expect your eyelash extensions to last 6 to 8 weeks at most (see below).

On average, we lose about five natural lashes every day. In a week, that adds up to 35 lashes (i.e., approximately 20% of the eyelash extensions in a set). This is considered normal, healthy eyelash loss. Unfortunately, this means that women with naturally oily skin run the risk of their eyelash extensions having a shorter lifespan.

If an eyelash is torn off, it will eventually grow back; however, a few months may pass, especially if there has been a break in the growth cycle and the eyelash needs to return to the resting telogen phase. If water comes into contact with the eyelashes before the end of the 24-hour period, the drying process could be interrupted and adhesion could be compromised. There are tons of eyelash adhesives on the market to meet the different needs of customers and the preferences of eyelash technicians. If you often receive urgent messages from your customers saying that “all my eyelashes fell out”, eyelash growth and the cycle of eyelash loss are things you should consider starting to investigate.

You'd better bet your last dollar that the oil in your shampoo or conditioner settles on the lash line and breaks down the eyelash extension adhesive. Any amount lower than that (and it will be a fairly obvious difference between natural consequences and intense hair loss) means that either you haven't followed the aftercare guidelines or that your eyelash technician did a second-rate job. Before you pick up the phone and ask your eyelash artist, you should check if your natural eyelashes fall out (you can see a white tip) or just the extensions section. Many eyelash technicians recommend using the wrong call water, especially if your customers wear eye makeup and need a remover.

When mascara is applied to eyelash extensions, the ingredients can compromise the adhesive and weaken the bond, causing the extensions to detach from the eyelashes and peel off. Very active women who are no stranger to episodes of profuse sweating could also damage their extensions with the oil and moisture of their skin. You should clean your lashes with a safe cleanser for eyelash extensions at least once a day to prevent them from accumulating on the eyelash line. Blush + blonde sells a safe cleanser for eyelash extensions in a bottle with 100 ml foam pump and cleansing brushes.

We have already established that the level of humidity affects the strength of the eyelashes and influences the bonding power of the glue used to fix the extensions.
